Reliable diabetes information

I got drunk/tipsy, may have diabetes, is what happend to me a resulylt of diabetes....?
I have several symtoms of diabetes, so I'm getting tested this week. So I was at a party and I started drinking...later in the night I got very light headed and was freezing horribly. Is this another sign that I might have diabetes? Does drinking with diabetes make that happen?

What happens when you test positive for diabetes?
Okay, so I have been to the doctor's and they did that thing where they prick your finger and take a reading of your sugar levels and it was 11.8. They also had a quick look at my urine, and said there was sugar in it, but it wasn't tested in a lab. They just tested it at the surgery. They arranged a second appointment for a proper blood and urine test which will be sent off to a lab for analysis but the doctor feels that in view of the high first reading, it will still test positive. However, he feels it can be managed through lifestyle rather than medication. There was a 2 week delay between the finger blood test and the second blood test and during that time, I have put myself on a diet. I used to eat loads of cakes and stuff, but have been eating healthily. I've lost some weight and have got more exercise than I usually do. Firstly, although it was only 2 weeks, can it come down to an acceptable level through diet in those two weeks? Secondly, if the test comes back positive, what happens? I presume the doctor will sort out a diet and keep monitoring me, but I am just after an overview really of what happens next.

I manage my type one diabetes with exercise & good diet. Why do some people REFUSE to believe me?
I was diagnosed with type one diabetes at Christmas after a near fatal pancreatic illness. After leaving hospital I was prescribed 50 units of insulin a day which I very much needed as my blood sugar was usually between 20 & 40. Terrified of becoming ill again, I dedicated myself to a good diet with close observation of what increased my sugars & ever increasing exercise. Soon, after consulting a doctor I was taking only 20 units a day & often going 'hypo'. Now, I have had to stop injecting any insulin as my blood sugar is always between 4 & 7 except after a very large meal which isn't unusual.I've asked & answered a number of questions regarding blood sugar management on here & but for a couple of people the general attitude has been 'you can't possibly have type one' or 'you've been misdiagnosed'. I most certainly was NOT misdiagnosed & continue to see doctors on a regular basis who have told me that due to good diet & exercise my body is compensating for my damaged pancreas. Doctors, diabetic nurses & my general practitioner have all confirmed that I have type one & for now at least, I no longer need to inject. Why do some people REFUSE to accept this ?

Any suggestions for a non alcoholic drink for male type 2 diabetes sufferer?

How long does uncontrolled diabetes take to effect the eyes/cause blindness?
I know an African American male with diabetes and hypertension, mid 30's, normal body weight, diagnosed with diabetes about 3 years ago. He became blind in one eye, the other eye is bleeding and retina tearing. I understand it varies for everyone is this caused by not controlling the diabetes hypertension? Im asking because the patient is claiming that they take great care of their sugar and blood pressure. My guess is my friend is not?

How many pills for type 2 diabetes is there. what are the names of the pills?

On average how long does it take for diabetes and high blood pressure to cause blindness?
Patient is in mid thirties, African American normal weight. I have a friend whose retina is detaching other eye already blind and was only diagnosed with diabetes about 3 years ago. Is this a result of not taking care of himself or is this normal for the disease?

A Question on Diabetes?
My husband has type 2 diabetes and recently the results on the blood glucose machine have been in the 450 area. Now I know a ton of people are going to say " You need to go to the hospital" Yeah we get it but we are poor folk and going to the hospital for a massive emergency room bill of 700 dollars so they can pump him full of insulin then send him on his merry way until his blood sugar gets high again really isn't on our list of " Ta Dos" So with no insurance meaning he doesn't take any insulin, I was wondering if there was a natural way of bringing down his blood glucose? I was using the old Google machine and came across an article about a study on diabetic people and Vitamin C. Basically using Vitamin C for six weeks lowered their blood glucose. We are going to try this and hopefully it helps some what. Medicare won't take him because he isn't over the age of 65 and Medicaid won't because he isn't a woman. And we can't afford any insurance with with my job. So can anyone give me any ideas that I myself haven't already thought up? We don't have the money to sit there and buy " Healthy Food" like salads and diabetic food. That stuff doesn't fill you up and within the hour your hungry again, trust me we have tried this and it burned a huge hole in our pockets trying to afford all that food that didn't survive the two weeks. 1. I need REAL insurance that covers diabetic people under the age of 30 and cost no more then 50 dollars monthly. I don't care if it only covers test strips those damn things are expensive and if you test how often as recommend you will easily spend over a hundred dollars in the first week. 2. Massively cheap meals that are good for you and are easy and quick to make. 3. What are good snacks he should eat apart from normal meals?4. Drinks other then water good for him?5. Is it a good idea for him to go without eating something because his blood sugar is high? What should he do eat when it gets abnormally high for the diabetic person? I don't need kids on here answering me with looked up internet answers they fond on the some search engine. I want real diabetic people who are living through this that are willing to spread their knowledge I know I'm asking for the impossible but what else am I suppose to do?I'm sorry apparently I am not able to comment on my own post but make smaller changes like this. Thank you to the first comment and to the second comment listed below. I was with my husband when the doctor came in a told him that he had diabetes. His mother was a nurse and got him feel check ups at their office when she was still alive, he would have known if he had been born with Diabetes which is Type 1. Still thank you for your comment we are going to hospital later this week and I'll make sure they look into that.
